Ibrahim Tanko, head coach of the Black Meteors of Ghana, freely admits that his team’s performance fell short and disappointed Ghanaians, particularly those who were anxiously expecting the country’s comeback to men’s football at the Olympic Games after nearly two decades.

Ghana’s aspirations were crushed after they were ousted from the current Africa U-23 Cup of Nations in Morocco after a Friday night tie with Guinea.

Due to goal difference, the Meteors barely lost out on second place in Group A to Guinea with four points from three matches.

In a post-match press conference, the veteran tactician conveyed his team’s knowledge of their dismal performance in the tournament.

He did, however, promise that they will analyse their performance and suggest areas for development for future endeavours.

“We have disappointed Ghanaians and ourselves but we give thanks to God in every situation and like I said, we will analyze and know what didn’t go well.”
