Hafiz Konkoni, the brilliant Bechem United striker, has stated that Hearts of Oak board member Alhaji Akambi and defender Samuel Inkoom have been aggressively pursuing him in order to get him to the Phobians.
Hearts of Oak, who had a terrible season in the 2022/2023 Ghana Premier League, are desperate to enhance their roster in order to do better in the following season, and they have set their sights on obtaining the highly-regarded striker.
In an interview with GhanaSportspage, the Black Stars striker said that talks are presently underway and expressed his delight at being in direct communication with Alhaji Akambi, who has shown a strong interest in signing him to a contract with the club.
“Yes, we are still negotiating. Alhaji Akambi is playing a key role. He wants me to come and help the team, and I feel proud of that. It’s not easy for someone of Alhaji Akambi’s stature to constantly contact you,” he stated.
Hearts of Oak defender Samuel Inkoom, according to Konkoni, has been actively discussing how joining the club would help him.
“Samuel Inkoom is also playing a crucial role. He has been calling me regularly, telling me about the great work done by Accra Hearts of Oak and how the move would be advantageous for me. His consistent communication at his level is impressive, and his love for the club and the way he talks about it is something I greatly appreciate,” Konkoni added.
While discussions are still underway, Konkoni thanked both Alhaji Akambi and Samuel Inkoom for their efforts. However, he is still unsure about the conclusion and whether or not he would eventually join the club.
“It’s good, but let’s see what happens because we’re still in negotiations. I can’t say for sure at the moment whether I will play for them, but talks have progressed. Inkoom is doing a fantastic job,” he concluded.
With a goal-scoring record of 15 in the league last season, Hafiz Konkoni might be Hearts of Oak’s first acquisition as they look to solve their striker deficiency.
