According to FC 1996 Samartex Business Development Manager Paul Anyaba, coach Annor Walker’s departure from the club was amicable and is part of the changes envisaged as the team moves to a new era.
He stated this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports following Walker’s surprise decision to quit Samreboi and join Accra Great Olympics.
Walker led Samartex to a tenth-place finish in the BetPawa Ghana Premier League in their maiden season. Mas-Ud Dramani has taken over as head coach of Ghana’s Black Galaxies in Walker’s absence.
“At the end of the season, we sat and we felt that we should go our separate ways. Project Samartex is in phases so everyone will come and do what he can.
At the end of every phase, other people will come…Coach Annor Walker came and finished his project. We are moving to a different phase and we need a different coach to take us there.”
Great Olympics flirted with relegation last season, but a late surge in form helped the Wonder Club finish 14th in the league.
