“Asante Kotoko players are delighted with Prosper Narteh Ogum’s return” – Ibrahim Danlad

"Asante Kotoko players are delighted with Prosper Narteh Ogum's return" - Ibrahim Danlad

Danlad Ibrahim, Asante Kotoko’s custodian, expressed his delight at the return of Prosper Narteh Ogum as the club’s coach.

Ogum previously guided the Porcupines to their 24th Premier League title in 2021/22, but stepped down before the start of the next season. He remained unattached to any club after a brief time as Annor Walker’s assistant coach with the Black Satellites.

Unfortunately, Ogum’s successor, Seydou Zerbo, ran into problems with the squad and was fired midway through the season. This necessitated the hiring of a new coach.

However, following the fall of the club’s board and administration, Ogum has rejoined Asante Kotoko with the hope of making apologies for their disastrous 2022/23 season, in which they placed fourth.

The Porcupine Warriors also struggled in other competitions, falling out of the CAF Champions League in the first round and were knocked out of the FA Cup in the round of 32 after a close defeat to Aduana Stars.

As professionals, the players are dedicated to adhering to any coach’s concept and working together to achieve success. Danlad emphasised that if they win the league, the credit would not go entirely to the coach; the players’ contributions will also be recognised.

“Because we are professionals, we will follow the philosophy of any coach and collaborate in order to succeed.” If we win the league, I don’t think the coach will get all the glory; I think we’ll get a lot of credit as well.”

“Whether it’s Ogum or another coach, we’re ready to work.” For the time being, he has been appointed, and we welcome his return. We do recognise him since we’ve already collaborated. We know what he loves and hates, so we’ll do our best to adapt and perform well next season,” he told Kessben FM.
