Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Richard Senanu close to joining Legon Cities

Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Richard Senanu is on the verge of joining Legon Cities FC for the 2023/24 league season.

According to Mohammed Shaban, Senanu has secured an agreement to join Legon Cities FC on a permanent basis.

Senanu will join Legon Cities FC on a free transfer after leaving the recently promoted Ghana Premier League team Nations FC.

Following his release from Asante Kotoko, the talented midfielder joined Legon Cities FC (then known as Bekwai Youth Club) in January 2022.

Senanu’s stint with Kotoko was hampered by a career-threatening injury, which forced him to leave the team. He tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in a CAF Confederation Cup qualifier against Cameroonian heavyweights Coton Sport in 2018. This injury prompted surgery in Germany, putting him out of commission for over two years.

although the setback, Senanu triumphantly returned to full health and was nominated to Mariano Barreto’s team for the just finished season, although not participating in competitive matches.

Notably, Senanu was instrumental in Nations FC’s successful promotion to the Premier League the previous season.
