Fuel prices will rise in the first pricing window of August - COPEC

The Chamber of Petroleum Consumers (COPEC) forecasts a slight increase in petroleum prices in the first pricing window of August 2023.

According to preliminary estimates, petrol and diesel pump prices would rise by around 9% over the current national average of GHS11.90 per litre.

Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices are also predicted to rise by 20%.

According to COPEC, these increases are the consequence of a rise in the price of goods on the international market, with crude rising 10.53 per cent from a mean price of $75.85 per barrel to $83.84 per barrel.

As a result, COPEC forecasted the following retail numbers for petroleum products in the upcoming price window:

Petrol costs GH13.27 per litre; diesel costs GH13.93 per litre; the average price for petrol and diesel is GH13.33 per litre, while LPG costs GH11.79 per kilogramme.
