Former Hearts of Oak defender Samuel Inkoom has departed the Ghana Premier League team he joined last year.
After his contract with Georgian club Torpedo Kutaisi expired in January 2022, the former Asante Kotoko defender rejoined the Ghana Premier League in April 2022, signing the Phobians.
However, the 34-year-old has left Heart of Oak after a good time in which he scored two goals in ten games in the second half of the 2021/22 season, helping his club defend the FA Cup championship, and another 21 appearances the previous season.
In a social media message declaring his resignation, Samuel Inkoom thanked the Hearts of Oak administration, Board Chairman Togbe Afede XIV, and the whole fanbase for the opportunity.
“I bow out of the Phobia family with pride and fulfilment, thanks to Torgbe Afede XIV and the Amazing family. Phobia! Masters.👏🏾💪🏽 @HeartsOfOakGH,” Samuel Inkoom posted on his social media pages.
The former FC Basel defender, on the other hand, had a successful career in Europe, playing for a number of clubs.
Inkoom was a key member of the Black Satellites team that won Ghana’s first and only U-20 World Cup in 2009. He also played in the knockout games for Ghana at the 2010 World Cup, when Ghana defeated the United States in the round of 16 and lost to Uruguay on penalties in the quarter-finals.
He was also a member of the 2014 World Cup team but did not appear in any games.
