Alhaji Akambi, a board member of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club, believes the team’s recent series of acquisitions’ bad performance is normal in professional football.
He revealed this in an exclusive interview with Citi Sports after the Phobia club finished 12th in the 2022-2023 BetPawa Ghana Premier League, its worst season in previous years.
Hearts experienced a dreadful campaign with three persons in charge of the technical department (Samuel Boadu, Slavko Matic, and David Ocloo).
Prior to the season, Hearts signed Konadu Yiadom, Yassan Ouatching, and Junior Kaaba, however, the additions provided nothing in terms of output, contributing to the team’s dismal results.
“Nobody can run away from it things couldn’t go well for Hearts of Oak this particular season but that is football for you. There are times you get it right, there are times you don’t get it right.
Before the beginning of last season, everybody saw the recruitment that Hearts did, would you have written Hearts off that our recruitment was bad? That is football for you. You can bring in a player it could be Maradonna, change a place he might not be able to click well.”
