Abdul Fatawu Salifu, Head Coach of Kpando Heart of Lions, has praised management’s decision to relocate the club’s home stadium from SOGAKOPE Wafa Park to the new 10,000-seater Hohoe Sports Stadium.
Heart of Lions, a recently promoted team, initially chose WAFA Park as their home stadium but had to relocate owing to the Akosombo Dam leakage, which impacted the Sogakope environment.
In an interview with Citi Sports, Abdul Fatawu Salifu stated that he believes the players are ready to adjust to the AstroTurf.
With me, I think it is fine, the decision to play at the WAFA Park was due to the Hohoe Sports Stadium not being ready to host us.
I think there were some things that were supposed to be put in place, that is how the team decided to move to Sogakope Park.
HOHOE SPORTS STADIUM
Hohoe is deeply in Volta Region and close to Kpando and now that we are going back, i think it is best for the people of Volta Region and the club as a whole.
Though it is the first time playing there, I don’t think it is a worry, because we train on astroturf, and now that our home turf is an astroturf, I think it is a good decision for the club.
The freshly promoted Kpando Heart of Lions are the only team in the betPawa Premier League to have drawn all five games under Head Coach Abdul Fatawu Salifu.
The next match is at home against Karela United on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at 3 p.m.
