Gladson Awako, a 32-year-old Ghanaian midfielder, has left Ghana Premier League heavyweights Accra Hearts of Oak after two years, according to Ghanasportspage.com
The contract of the former U-20 World Cup winner with the Phobians runs in 2024, but the two sides have amicably agreed to split ways.
Awako joined Hearts of Oak after a contentious move from the Dade Boys in 2021, which saw him miss almost 100 days of activity.
He was a key figure in the club’s FA Cup victory two seasons ago and guided the Black Galaxies to the CHAN competition in Algeria.
Following Fatawu Mohammed’s departure, the club selected the ex-TP Mazembe midfielder as captain.
After struggling with injuries last season, the experienced midfielder will leave the Phobians this summer in search of a “fresh start.”
