Mr. Chabite emphasised that the team would continue to assist the NPP and will not betray the party for Alan's personal gain. He criticised Alan's decision not to run in the party's election, accusing him of forsaking his faithful supporters.

Members of Alan Kyerematen’s Northern Region campaign team have proclaimed their support for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s National Delegates Conference in November.

This comes after Alan Kyerematen resigned from the NPP in a highly publicised news conference on Monday.

Chabite Moses Moye, an administrator of the Alan campaign team in the region, expressed dismay at Mr Kyerematen’s decision to leave the New Patriotic Party at a news conference in Tamale on Tuesday.

He emphasised that the campaign team’s support for Alan Kyerematen was related to his NPP membership and that by breaking links with the party, the former flagbearer contender had also broken relations with his regional support base.

He emphasised that the campaign team’s support for Alan Kyerematen was related to his NPP membership and that by breaking links with the party, the former flagbearer contender had also broken relations with his regional support base.

According to the organisation, following Mr Kyerematen’s resignation, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia now stands as the best choice to lead the NPP into the 2024 election, which is why they have decided to endorse him.

“All signs show that the vice president, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia who is also contesting will win. We have to work for the party. We will surely work with him and make sure that he gets the nod and continue to work for NPP to win power in 2024,” he stated.

Mr Chabite emphasised that the team would continue to assist the NPP and would not betray the party for Alan’s personal gain.

He criticised Alan’s decision not to run in the party’s election, accusing him of forsaking his faithful supporters.

“We are concerned, former supporters of Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen’s presidential candidacy of NPP are here today to express our profound disappointment with Mr Kyerematen. We as individuals have steadfastly believed in Alan within our party. We have diligently supported his campaign and believe in his potential to lead NPP.

“However, Alan chose to withdraw from the race without prior notice, citing isolated incidents of violence after our special delegates’ conference. This decision has inflicted unnecessary hardship on us because we firmly believe that the grassroots was firmly behind him. We were shocked and dismayed when he withdrew from the November presidential election.

“We can only describe this action as cowardly, and a betrayal of his loyal supporters. Today, we think of the party first, our support for him was rooted in NPP and not as an individual. We were shocked by his resignation from NPP, and some of us were disappointed. We will not betray our party, we remain NPP”.

Mr Kyerematen’s decision was welcomed by the NPP at a news conference on Tuesday.

“Today is day one and it is expected that all those who are of age, the EC must come clear to us and let us know what is really happening. I mean, as I said, we can’t work out this situation where people have moved from their homes to registration centres only to be treated in this manner. “It is the reason I am saying that the EC must walk the talk and let us know what the challenges are.”

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has encouraged the Electoral Commission (EC) to resolve the issues raised on the first day of the restricted voter registration drive.

The NPP voiced fear that unsolved flaws might result in voting disenfranchisement if not addressed.

On the first day of the 21-day voter registration process, there were reports of equipment failures and network issues around the country.

Evans Nimako, Director of Elections and Research for the NPP, stated that the EC must do what is appropriate to guarantee that all eligible voters are registered at the conclusion of the process.

"My late MCE did nothing to earn his dismissal; the only error he made was to back me, and I lost the primaries. "How can someone who been named the number one MCE at the national and regional levels be fired? He got various honours for his efforts as MCE. He was replaced without consulting me," she allegedly told Accra-based Onua TV/FM while visiting the grieving family to express her condolences.

Tina Ayele Mensah, a Weija-Gbawe Member of Parliament (MP), has conveyed her condolences on the tragic death of Patrick Kumor, the former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

Madam Mensah has ascribed Mr Kumor’s death to his removal from government in February 2024, which she says was not the wisest decision.

The MP said that the dead backed her re-election in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries.

“My late MCE did nothing to earn his dismissal; the only error he made was to back me, and I lost the primaries.

“How can someone who has been named the number one MCE at the national and regional levels be fired? He got various honours for his efforts as MCE. He was replaced without consulting me,” she allegedly told Accra-based Onua TV/FM while visiting the grieving family to express her condolences.

According to the member, Mr Kumor was unable to endure the news and recover from the shock.

“Patrick isn’t as powerful as me. I don’t mind if you fire me; but, Patrick is not like me. Patrick couldn’t stop thinking about his bag, and his blood pressure continued to rise. “‘Afei se asa’ (it is finished), Patrick is gone,” she stated.
