Armed robbers attack Legon Cities team bus after a draw with Bibiani Gold Stars

This alarming incident underscores a continuing security risk not only for Legon Cities, but also for numerous other Ghana Premier League clubs. Unfortunately, Women's Premier League clubs such as Perpia Ladies and Savannah Ladies have also been victims of armed robbery in similar circumstances.

Legon Cities FC, a Ghana Premier League club, had a terrifying armed robbery event on their way back to Accra following a match against FC Samartex in the eighth week of the season.

After a difficult trip to Samreboi, where they were defeated 3-0 by FC Samartex, the Legon Cities team bus was assaulted by armed thieves in Kwanfifi, a town on the Bibiani-Kumasi route.

Legon Cities midfielder Nicholas Mensah corroborated the story, saying, “We were attacked by armed robbers.” There were no injuries, but they took all we owned. Mensah told Kickgh.com, “It was a terrible experience.”
