Asante Kotoko’s head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, has stated that the club should not only be supported but also revered.
Ogum was reintroduced to the squad on Monday, August 7, 2023, in the Baba Yara Sports Stadium’s conference hall, marking his second stint with the Porcupine Warriors.
Addressing the audience during the unveiling, Ogum expressed, “Kotoko is a club we don’t support but we worship, and that is why I’m honoured to be the head coach”.
He continued, “I am pleading with everybody that all of us should be united. The past is past. Let’s forgive those who offended us in the past and move on. That’s the only way we can take Kotoko back to its glory days.”
During his first term, Ogum accomplished tremendous things, including winning the Ghana Premier League. His resignation from the club was caused by issues with the club’s management, which was managed by Nana Yaw Amponsah. Despite this, the club’s owner, Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II, was instrumental in enabling Ogum’s return to Asante Kotoko.
Ogum is now a member of the Interim Management Committee, which was formed by Otumfuo to supervise the club’s day-to-day activities in the absence of the board of directors and management.
On Friday, September 15, 2023, the Porcupine Warriors will kick off their new season against the Accra Lions at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
