Charles Taylor questions Annor Walker's capacity to deal with pressure at Hearts of Oak

Former Hearts of Oak star Charles Taylor has voiced doubts about Annor Walker’s suitability as the club’s future coach.

According to Ghanasoccernet.com, Walker is close to signing a contract to coach Hearts of Oak, but Taylor has questioned the experienced coach’s capacity to manage the pressure that comes with guiding Hearts of Oak.

“Annor Walker is feeling the strain at Hearts of Oak. “He won’t even last six months,” Taylor said on Angel TV.

Walker has packed his bags and baggage from Samartex amid mounting doubts over his future, according to GHANAsoccernet.com.

His long-term future is uncertain following an unpleasant performance last season, as Samartex is known to be dissatisfied with his output and has wielded the axe.

Last season, the former Great Olympics coach oversaw a challenging campaign in which the team narrowly avoided relegation.

With one year remaining on his Samartex deal, the club is unimpressed and has no plans to keep him next season, according to GHANAsoccernet.com.

According to GHANAsoccernet, the seasoned custodian is on his way to Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak.

He hopes to lead them into the upcoming season, hoping to revitalise the squad following a poor season in which they nearly avoided relegation on the last day.

Walker, who has managed various clubs in Ghana, notably Berekum Chelsea, would bring a plethora of expertise to the table.

He was also given the opportunity to coach the Black Galaxies at the African Nations Championship this year. His experience and track record make him a strong contender for the top position at Hearts of Oak.

Following the dismissals of Samuel Boadu and his replacement Slavko Matic, who experienced animosity from supporters during training sessions, the team finished the season under caretaker manager David Ocloo.

"The spectators threw urine and insulted me and the players. We needed to protect ourselves, so we raced to the pitch, but to be honest, I responded to them," he told Akoma FM. "As a 30-year lover of the game, I had never seen anything like this before. It was more like a fight than a football match."

Bashir Hayford, the head coach of the Hearts of Oak Lions, delayed his team’s game against Bechem United on Saturday by sitting in the centre of the pitch due to biassed officiating.

During the game at Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, Hayford took a seat in the centre of the pitch, forcing a 20-minute stoppage in play.

The legendary Ghanaian trainer’s actions were in protest of what was described as one-sided officiating.

Following a brief break, Hayford left the field, allowing the game to resume. Despite playing with one man down, Bechem averted a loss on the day.
