Akwasi Ossei Nkrumah, a whistleblower who describes himself as a sports enthusiast and advocate for social and community development through sports, has petitioned FIFA’s Ethics Committee’s Investigative Chamber to investigate Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku.
On July 6, 2023, Nkrumah reported to the FIFA Committee about many violations committed by the GFA President throughout his tenure.
The petition was submitted on four grounds of claimed violations by the GFA President: forgery and falsification, conflicts of interest, abuse of position, duty of loyalty, and tampering with football matches or competitions.
The suit argues that the GFA President utilised Kurt Edwin-Simeon Okraku and Kurt Simeon-Okraku in various official positions to sign official papers and represent the Ghana Football Association on the grounds of forgery and falsification.
The petition cited the appointment of close allies or Related Parties of the GFA President to key positions in the Ghanaian football hierarchy following his election as President as a source of conflict of interest.
Nkrumah requests that FIFA’s Ethics Committee “thoroughly investigate the matters raised without fear or favour and pronounce the appropriate sanctions” in a portion of the petition.
Nkrumah went on to demand that the GFA President be temporarily suspended during the probe. The petition comes just months before the GFA elections in October.
