Kurt Okraku issues warning in response to a petition to FIFA

Following a recent appeal to FIFA by sports fan Akwasi Ossei Nkrumah, Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has issued a harsh warning to his adversaries.

The petitioner accuses Okraku of potential and actual violations of the FIFA Code of Ethics and has requested that the GFA president be investigated.

In reaction, during his speech at the 29th GFA Congress, Okraku stated, “By virtue of where I sit, I hold files that can defame and malign people in the Ghana football ecosystem.” But I would never do something like that!”

As the foundation for the FIFA inquiry, the petitioner highlighted forgery and falsification, conflicts of interest in GFA appointments, misuse of position, manipulation of matches or competitions, and breach of duty of allegiance. Okraku, on the other hand, did not explicitly address the particular claims but stated unequivocally that he would not engage in libellous conduct.

Various stakeholders in Ghana football attended the GFA Congress, which was held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

It is unclear how FIFA will respond to the petition or whether an inquiry will be launched. While Okraku does not explicitly address the allegations, he looks intent to continue managing the GFA and developing Ghana football.
