Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has confessed that officiating has not been the finest in recent seasons; nonetheless, the Association is determined to improve it and alter the narrative.
Officiating has been a source of concern in Ghanaian football, with the Ghana Premier League, in particular, facing attention.
various decisions in various games have already elicited violent reactions from some players.
Speaking at the GFA’s 29th Ordinary Congress in Kumasi on Monday, July 10, 2023, the President of the Association said, “It’s true officiating as being one of the problems faced in the league”
“We need to make sure we fix the problem and I admit officiating is one area we have to take critical attention to and channel our power to making it better” he said
“We promise to do better in the upcoming season and also continue to develop the game”
“An amount of GHC 300,000 will be pushed to the referee’s Committee to be fully funded and help develop the Catch Them Young Referees as well”. he added
The Ghana Football Association’s 29th ordinary congress is being held in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
