Mohammed Sherif, a defensive midfielder for Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club, has spoken out about the conflicting feelings he had after scoring his first goal for the Porcupine Warriors.
He discussed this in an interview with Kotoko’s official media channel ahead of the team’s highly anticipated BetPawa Premier League showdown against local rival Nations FC on Sunday, October 22.
Sherif, 21, joined Kotoko from Steadfast FC in 2021 and scored his first goal for Kotoko in a 1-2 defeat to Bibiani Gold Stars. He wishes his first goal for Kotoko brought his team at least a tie.
“I didn’t know how to jubilate (after scoring my first goal) because I didn’t expect it but it came but I wasn’t happy because we couldn’t get a point or a win there so the goal wasn’t that much important to me because I wanted it to be a goal that would give us a point or a win.”
Following a poor start that saw Kotoko go winless after three games, the squad has won back-to-back games to climb into fifth position in the rankings.
