Despite voicing reservations about the Electoral Commission’s choice to conduct the recent restricted voter registration operation at the district level, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) claims it has no problems with the scheduled presentation of the voters’ register.
The electoral administration board stated on Wednesday that it will display the provisional voters’ register from November 3 to November 7 at all 38,622 voting locations across the nation.
Mustapha Gbande, Deputy Secretary of the NDC, remarked on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News, “It is not about being happy.” Why stress people out by centralising registration? The EC made registration difficult.”
Despite these reservations, he stated that the NDC would not engage in additional disagreements with the EC over the voter registration exhibition effort and was resolved to focus on mastering the electoral environment in order to gain victory in the 2018 elections.
“That is the NDC’s position as far as this exercise is concerned. We have no objections to the exhibition they want to do. We will follow through, get people verified, and then we can move on to the district assembly elections.”
Mustapha Gbande, on the other hand, stated that the NDC will not be afraid to raise red flags during the process if necessary.
