Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team has targeted 73% of total votes ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential election on November 4.
Nana Akomea, the campaign’s spokesman, stated this on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen broadcast on Friday.
According to him, the team is more concerned with the percentage margin than with a win, and they are certain that their candidate can earn those votes.
Nana Akomea’s confidence, he continued, is based on the team’s research, which included vigorous campaigning around the country and a poll.
“The game is over, and God will bless it with water on Saturday.” We conducted the poll last week and received 73%, but now that the US branch has endorsed Dr Bawumia’s bid, it appears like we will exceed that objective’, he added.
Dr Bawumia, Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, former Agriculture Minister Dr Akoto Afriyie, and former Mampong MP Francis Addai-Nimoh are among the four contenders vying to head the NPP in the 2024 general election.
Dr Bawumia had been touted as the front-runner in the contest, but a recent poll by Global Info Analytics anticipated a run-off and found him to have 43.5% support.
Another poll, however, done by two well-respected research organisations, the Centre for Sustainable African Development Initiatives (C-SADI) in the UK and Outcomes International in Ghana, projected a landslide win for the Vice President.
