Ghanaian youngster Ibrahim Sulemana joins Serie A side Cagliari

Ibrahim Sulemana, a Ghanaian midfielder, has joined Cagliari from Hellas Verona in Serie A.

After excelling in his maiden season in the Italian top flight, the midfielder has signed a contract extension until June 2027.

Cagliari has finalised the acquisition of Ghanaian youth player Ibrahim Sulemana from Hellas Verona.

After rejecting an offer from Bologna, the 20-year-old inks a contract until 2027 and will play under Claudio Ranieri next season.

Sulemana was promoted to Hellas Verona’s senior team ahead of the start of the 2022/23 season after playing with the club’s U-19s after joining from Atalanta, where he originally settled after leaving Ghana.

The 20-year-old made his club debut in October 2022, when he came on as a substitute in Verona’s 1-2 loss to Salernita.

He went on to play 17 games in Serie A, starting the relegation decider as his team overcame Spezia to stay in the Italian top division for another season.

However, the teenager will now join Cagliari, who have just recently returned to the top division after defeating Bari in a promotion playoff under Claudio Ranieri.

Ranieri was instrumental in Sulemana accepting Cagliari’s bid in a transaction arranged by ArthurLegacysports.

Bologna also approached the player’s entourage following his debut season in the Italian top division.
