Juventus formally opened their academy in Ghana on Friday, with former player Kwadwo Asamoah in charge. The campaign intends to popularise the colours, techniques, and ideals of the Serie A team throughout the West African country.
The Juventus Academy Ghana is a joint venture between the Italian club and Kwadwo Asamoah, who won six Serie A titles during his seven-year stay in Turin. The initiative has received backing from Serie A, the Italian Embassy in Ghana, the Ministry of Sports, and the Ministry of Education, all of which were acknowledged during a news conference held on Friday morning at the SMAC Sports Centre within Casa Trasaco in Accra.
The Juventus Academy has become a hallmark of football greatness, giving young players with opportunity to study, grow, and prosper both on and off the pitch.
During the press conference, 74-cap Ghanaian Kwadwo Asamoah voiced his delight for the project, underlining its core purpose of “making young talents better persons even before they become professional footballers.” Asamoah also spoke about the personal sacrifices he took to bring this institution to fruition and his commitment to making a difference in the lives of the young footballers.
Asamoah claimed that he was talking with other teams until he received a call from Juventus manager Max Allegri and the team management, at which point he chose to discuss the proposal with the Italian club.

He expressed his joy and stated that the dream for this “magnificent project” began years ago and went through numerous stages.
