The Ministry of Youth and Sports refutes CK Akonnor's assertion that he was not compensated in a statement

Ghana’s Ministry of Youth and Sports has provided a thorough breakdown of a payment schedule for former Black Stars head coach CK Akonnor’s overdue salary.

The announcement follows Akonnor’s rant that he was not paid $100,000 after his contract with the Black Stars was terminated due to a string of bad outcomes.

In response, the Sports Ministry revealed that the former Black Stars captain was paid more than the aforementioned sum in three trenches.

According to the statement, Akonnor was paid $54.054.06 in October 2021, with the same amount paid in the second trench on February 10.

Akonnor was fired as Black Stars head coach in September 2021 and got $100,000 in January 2023, according to a Ministry statement.

Akonnor was paid $30,000 through bank transfer on July 27, 2023, for a total of $508,108.12.

However, the Ministry said Akonnor owed $220,000 in unpaid wages. Following Akonnor’s departure, Milovan Rajevac was named Black Stars head coach.
